Material Preparation:
Mix
thoroughly before using. No thinning is required or recommended.
Surface
Preparation:
All surfaces must be clean
and dry before application.
New wood: Sand bare
wood with the grain using fine sand paper. Stain if desired. For best
results on open grained woods such as walnut, oak and mahogany, fill
with paste wood filler as directed.
Previously finished wood:
Sand and clean sound finishes. Remove unsound finishes with
appropriate paint and varnish remover. Amteco BST 100 is the recommended
varnish remover for previously sealed or varnished surfaces. Then sand and clean.
Application:
Apply by spray, brush
or roller (1/4 - 3/8" roller cover). Roll at moderate speeds, and
avoid excessive rolling to prevent foaming. Apply two or three uniform
coats at 500- 600 sq. ft. per gallon per coat. Avoid thicker coats. May
be recoated without sanding after three hours. If not recoated after
three hours, allow to dry overnight, then sand lightly and clean before
applying another coat.
Drying:
Dries
to touch in 30 minutes, to recoat in three hours and to sand overnight
at 70°F and 50% relative humidity, and when applied at the recommended
coverage rate. Allow longer dry times if cooler more humid conditions
exist, or if thicker films are applied.
Limitations:
Do
not tint. Thinning is not advised. Do
not use over existing solvent or water-borne varnishes and wood
finishes.
Cleanup:
Clean
up spills and splatters immediately. Clean painting tools with mineral
spirits. Follow manufacturer’s recommendations for thorough spray
equipment maintenance.
